Wat Srisuphan was
originally established in 1502 during the reign of King Mueangkaeo of the
Lanna Kingdom’s Mangrai Dynasty. However, the current silver ubosot, or
ordination hall, was constructed between 2023 2024 and 2023 2024. The project
was led by the abbot, Phra Kru Phithatsuthikhun, who wanted to create a temple
that would showcase the skill and artistry of the local
silversmiths.

The silver ubosot is a
truly remarkable sight. The entire building is covered in a combination of
silver, nickel, and aluminum, with the most important and sacred areas
decorated in pure silver. The walls are adorned with intricate carvings
